Today, 
women are breaking all the stereotypes of the society and showing their ability in every field. From working as bus and taxi drivers to serving the country’s military, women have defied the ill-mentality of the society and have proved that they are not less than men in any aspect. Over the years, women like Kiran Bedi have proved that nothing is impossible for a woman and she has the strength and ability to serve the nation just like men.
But being a woman police officer is quite a tough job. Apart from fighting from the usual crime, they also have to fight with the patriarchal mindset of their male colleagues and double standards of society. Here are some of the braveheart female cops of our country who have broken all the stereotypes of the society and brought the real power of  in front of the whole world.
Sonia Narang is the badass police officer who is known for the straightforward and honest manner in which she solves many cases. She is also known for her zero tolerance for trouble makers and believes that “all are equal before law”. Sonia Narang once slapped a politician for not following the laws. She is credited for exposing many scams in her entire duty.

2.Usha Kiran – first woman police officer in CRPF

27-year-old Usha Kiran is an inspiration to many women who dream to serve their nation. Posted in the Naxal hotbeds of Bastar region in Chhattisgarh by CRPF, Usha Kiran is known for her bravery and for being the first woman police officer in CRPF. She specifically requested her seniors to post her in the male battalion in extremely dangerous area. She is an inspiration to many and a role model for young tribal women in joining the armed forces. She helps the school going girls in their studies in her spare time.

3. Subashini Sankaran – first woman police officer in charge of CM’s security

Subashini Sankaran is the first lady IPS officer in post-independence India to be been put in charge of CM’s security. She was appointed as the head of Assam’s Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal’s security details in July 2016. Subashini Sankaran has broken many stereotypes in her role which leaves zero scope for error.

4. Meera Borwankar – the first female police officer to head the crime branch

Meera Borwankar, who is known as the supercop, is the first female police officer to head the Mumbai police crime branch. She was appointed as Director General, Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D), a consultancy organisation under the Centre for modernization of police forces. In her long career, she has also worked in Maharashtra’s anti-terrorism squad.

5. Kanchan Chaudhary Bhattacharya – first woman to be promoted to the level of Director General of Police

Kanchan Chaudhary Bhattacharya is the first woman to become Director General of Police of a state and was the second woman IPS officer in the country after Kiran Bedi. She is known for bravely facing many dishonest politicians. She believes in bringing sensitivity and kindness into the police force.
