 ๐Ÿง

Psychologist vs Psychiatrist: What’s the Difference?

Many people confuse these roles, but they serve different purposes in mental health care.

Psychologist

A psychologist focuses on psychotherapy (talk therapy), emotional healing, behavioral change, and psychological assessment. They help people manage stress, trauma, relationships, and mental health through scientific counseling methods.

Psychiatrist

A psychiatrist is a medical doctor (MBBS + MD,DMPsychiatry specialization) who can diagnose mental disorders and provide psychopharmacology treatment — meaning they can prescribe medications for conditions like depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, or schizophrenia.

In simple words:

๐Ÿ’Š Psychiatrist = Medication treatment

๐Ÿ—ฃ Psychologist = Therapy and behavioral healing

Both work together to support mental well-being and emotional balance.
